What you need to complete FAFSA:

FSA ID (Step 1, parents need to have this done 3 days before they try to access/ complete FAFSA)

Tax income records (W-2s, 1040s, and other records of money earned)

RDS
Residency Determination Service
RDS offers possible eligibility for in-state tuition and state grants. Its purpose is to provide in-state residency (tuition purposes) for students applying for NC colleges. This form is completed online and students should apply for RDS before they apply to NC colleges and universities. Students must be living in North Carolina for one calendar school year to receive in-state tuition.

Once you have completed RDS you will be given an Residency Certification Number.
This 11 digit number determines if you are an in-state or out of state resident, keep up with your RCN!!
